I Told Myself

I told myself

She said she would order the next round
I told myself if she’d come with a beer
I would kiss her
We’d spent the day together
Coffee and tea but now was night to come
If she’d taken the bet for real
I told myself I would kiss her and all

Being on the same side of time
You’ll never be alone
On the same side of time
On the same side

I hoped she’d find a way to surprise me
To push me to the edge
Of my last boundaries
Oh yeah please surprise me
I can’t wait to be speechless
I can’t wait to be taken out of breath
I told myself I would kiss her and all

Being on the same time
Being on the same side of time
Oh yeah I would kiss her
I would kiss her or die

But in the end just a coffee
Both her hands cupped like a cat
My loneliness like a heart
Breathing its fog over her face
I would kiss her another time and all
I would kiss her or I would die for good

She embedded my coat
My favorite jacket of the time
And she wished me good night with a smile
Is it a hint of embarrassment
Is it a clue of deep understanding
That we play with some fire
That will burn with the night and all
Because you told you the same
Because you told you the same

Being on the same page
Being on the same page of time
Being on the same side
The same page the same side of time
