Just a note about The Mosquito Coast : I don’t know about the book, I wish I were, but the series. Both the uncle and nephew Theroux are involved. The writer and the actor. It appears to me to be broadcasting some very intelligent situations about law. Still we know how we need clever and thoughtful inputs about laws these times being. To put it short, as a note is supposed to, it brings the father, or so-called character, cause he si dealing himself with the role, to be an alternative version of the most powerful embodiement of authority : the gouvernment, aka in this case the US government, exercising in this shady landscape which is a frontier, meaning the one with Mexico. This is one inspiring story where the question about following the official law or your own personal believe of what is right or wrong is spreading doubts in the internal celllar of family. I am impressed and I think you should be, besides the adventuring narratives, that the most stricking scenes are staging the debate in very different perpectives, a bit like Kafka’s but in a thriller shape. You should give it a try…
